A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) enables someone you trust (the attorney) to make decisions on your behalf about your property and affairs or your welfare at a time when you are no longer able or lack the mental capacity to take those decisions yourself. This can include paying your bills, collecting your income and benefits or selling your house. You can restrict the powers that the attorney has if, for instance, you do not want them to have the power to sell your home.
The LPA can only be used once it has been registered at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) and it can be used once the person in question either lacks capacity or no longer wishes to take certain decisions for themselves.
We can simply provide advice on how to obtain an LPA or we can look after all the paperwork if you wish. We offer our services on a fixed fee basis where the fee depends on what you are asking us to do.
